Senior Care News

Queens, NY (June 15, 2022)

Senior citizens may have a difficult time finding products that are specifically designed with them in mind. In order to address this, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is partnering with Beacon Eldercare, Inc. to bring a Senior Gadgets Presentation to the Peter Cardella Senior Center in Ridgewood this month.

On Wednesday, June 22, a representative from Beacon Eldercare will be at the Peter Cardella Senior Center, located at 68-52 Fresh Pond Road in Ridgewood, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

This presentation, run by Yvonne Murphy, MA, CEO and founder of Beacon Eldercare, will give all attendees of the senior center an in-depth look at several different affordable gadgets that can make senior citizens’ lives easier.

“My office has partnered with Beacon Eldercare earlier in the year for a virtual presentation on these senior gadgets, and I am happy to be able to bring her in front of a live audience this time around,” Addabbo, a member of the Senate Aging Committee, said. “As we age many aspects of life that we previously took for granted can become more difficult. The items displayed during the presentation are specifically designed to help seniors overcome these obstacles and have proven to be beneficial for the senior population.”

For this informational presentation, Mrs. Murphy has hand-picked these gadgets specifically for seniors. Understanding the needs of older adults, and dealing with the aging process, medical requirements, and disabilities caused her to seek out affordable gadgets that made sense for senior citizens. Two of her many outstanding selections to be presented are the Healthy Seniors Squeeze Balls for Hand Therapy and the Healthy Seniors Jar Opener Set, along with several others.

Mrs. Murphy has two Master’s Degrees, one in Social Work and one in Forensic Psychology, as well as over 20 years of experience with long term care, home health care, housing options, geriatric care management, and Medicaid consulting and supporting families who are caring for elderly loved ones.

“I would like to thank Mrs. Murphy and Beacon Eldercare for coming into the community and providing seniors with this important information. If we can help even one senior citizen have a better quality of life through the use of these products, it will be a successful event. My thanks also go to the Peter Cardella Senior Center for allowing us to bring this event to their members.”
